A Metropolis newspaper, a competitor of the Daily Planet, whose editor and publisher resort to attempted murder and sabotage in an effort to prevent Lois Lane from completing a round-the-world publicity trip, a trip in which Lois switches to a different mode of transportation every twenty-four hours, designed to increase the circulation of the Daily Planet. Lois’s journey is ultimately a success thanks to the repeated intervention of Superman, and the Examiner’s editor and publisher will face criminal charges for their efforts to prevent her from completing it (S No. 49/3, Nov/Dec 1947: “Lois Lane, Globe-Trotter!”) (TGSB).
