Proofreading is key to aviod making a million little edits.

read this Proofreading

This is not a joke, it is really helpful for everyone, including myself.

I'm sure many of us know this but, in my case, are too lazy, tired, bored, egotistical or plain forgetful to proof the first time through. My mistakes are usually the same over and over. I never learn. Another suggestion is to compose in a program with a spell/grammar/syntax check.

I'm a little confused, is it hard on the database to keep editing online? Generally, most of the things I keep going back and editing are small things that I just figure should be right eventually, and its easier to get them sooner rather than later when there are going to be a lot of entries. For example, in the "Sylvia" entry, the reference should be SGLL, not LL, and since its close to the top, its easier to make the small edit now...when I follow links to other entries, I find some typos in almost all of them...I think I'm anal in trying to wipe them all out on my entries in a few hours, rather than let them sit?

Edit because I don't know how to create a signature above

I make mistakes all the time, mostly when I don't proofread and just rush out the entry. Sometimes even after I proofread, I read it one more time after I post it, then I catch something. It actually saves a lot of time. Editing takes longer than reading.

P.S. to make a sig just click on that button between to the one with the red cricle and the one with the line, the one that looks like a sig. Just press it and it does it for you.

Yeah, but are you saying I'm making too many small edits? Because it takes up too much space on the recent changes menu? When you say rush out the entry, generally, I do that by hitting "save page", but I do that (I do use preview too) because sometimes the site is wonky and I don't want to lose the entry...I guess I'm just confused, but as I learn more about Wiki commands etc., I'll get better at not having to look up things like adding online sources etc. I do try to pretty much finish my edits the day I make the entry.

Thanks for the signature command...

You are doing great work!

I am just trying to help you save time and headaches, since you always seem annoyed that you have to make 10 small typo edits for every entry. That's all. I know I get annoyed when I find typos in my own entries. --Super Monkey 13:38, 26 May 2006 (EDT)

Oh... ;>)

LOL, actually, I thought maybe I was taking up too much bandwidth with 8 entries for Mr. Xavier or something like that...I admit I hit "save page" like a person will hit "save" in a word processor program...so that's how I do my proofreading...anyways, I am getting more used to the Wiki format, so I'm not frustrated...

Cheers!
