Specs Dour
A Metropolis gang chief who, having learned of “an ancient drug which causes insanity†from an old book on forgotten drugs, sets about ruthlessly driving wealthy men berserk with his insanity-inducing drug and then extorting extravagant fees from their families in return for the precious antidote. Superman apprehends Dour and his henchmen in October 1946, but only after he has himself fallen temporary victim to the effects of the bizarre chemical. Dour, ironically, becomes “so upset by the failure of his scheme†that he becomes completely deranged. “That’s justice!†muses Clark Kent (Act No. 101: “Crime Paradise!â€) (TGSB).
