John Forrest
A Metropolis window washer who stumbles upon the secret of Superman's identity when he sees Superman change to Clark Kent inside an office at the Daily Planet. The shock of this discovery sends Forrest reeling backward off his window ledge and plummeting toward the pavement, and although Superman rescues him before he hits the sidewalk, he is rushed unconscious to the hospital with Superman fearful that he will reveal his identity as soon as he regains consciousness. Awakening in his hospital bed, however, Forrest identifies himself as Eric Joyce, a Metropolis banker who vanished years ago after a blow on the head afflicted him with temporary amnesia. Now cured as the result of the shock of his recent fall, Joyce recalls nothing of his life as window washer “Forrest,†including his knowledge of Superman’s identity (S No. 48/3, Sep/Oct 1947: “The Rarest Secret in the World!â€) (TGSB).
