An elderly former lumberjack, now a resident of the Sutter County Retirement Home in Sioux Forest, Nort Dakota, who has suffered derision and ridicule throughout his adult life because of his insistence that Superman rescued him from hostile Indians – and performed other incredible super-feats in his presence – some sixty years ago, well before Superman was even born. After perusin Bird’s written account of his meeting with “Superman” and then flashing to North Dakota to interview Bird personally, Superman realizes with astonishment that the “Superman” Bird knew was not Superman at all, but rather Superman’s grandfather, the father of Jor-El, who apparently journyed briefly to Earth while experimenting with space travel sometime around the turn of the century (S No. 103/1, Feb 1956:”The Superman of Yesterday”).
