His Earth cover identity is Carter Hall, arachaeologist and museum curator. Hawkman is a longtime Justice League of America colleague of Superman. Superman and Batman join Hawkman on Thanagar to help out in a potential civil war (WF No. 278, Apr 1982: "Assault on Thanagar!").
