Ferro Lad
Andrew Nolan, of 30th century Earth, is Ferro Lad of the Legion of Super-Heroes (Adv No. 346, Jul 1966: "One of Us Is a Traitor"). A mutation expressing itself at birth gives Andrew the power to change his body to an iron alloy and lends properties of tremendous toughness and strength. This mutation also disfigures his face and he has worn a mask all his life.
Ferro Lad dies heroically when he shoves a weakened Superboy aside and personally detonates a bomb that obliterates the mighty Sun-Eater that threatens the galaxy (Adv No. 353, Feb 1967: "The Doomed Legionnaire!").
Andrew's twin brother, Douglas Nolan, also possesses the same abilities.
