After travelling through space for years, months, days or even seconds. Whether there was a wormhole or some version of lightspeed involved in the ships travels, Jor-EL and Lara decided to save the life of their son, Kal-EL, by sending him from the doomed planet Krypton off to, what to them was a primitive planet, Earth.

As the shipped soared through the Earth's atmosphere its presence was somehow masked, some speculate through the means of a Meteor Shower, snow storm or some other means as it landed in a small town in Kansas.

A young couple (their age may vary depending on which era) Jonathan and Martha Kent found the ship in a field and to their surprise also found baby Kal-EL alive and well. The couple had discussed children for some time but had no luck with having any of their own and so decided to raise baby Kal as their own, seeing him as a gift from the heavens.

Kal was given the first name of Clark, Martha's maiden name, and the couple took him in as their own. From Jonathan and Martha, young Clark would lean many of the morals and ethics that would one day make him the World's Greatest Hero but his life in Smallville, Kansas is wrought full of trials and tribulations whether as a young man paving his future or the Superboy who would become a Superman.
