Chief Flying Eagle
The tribal name and title bestowed upon Superman by the grateful Indian inhabitants of Metropolis Island in the year 1644, when they select the Man of Steel as their new chief in recognition of his having thwarted an attempt by the evil Chief Gray Wolf and the wily medicine man Shama to plunge their tribe into a “useless war†with the neighboring northern tribes (Act No. 148, Sep 1950:“Superman, Indian Chief!â€) (TGSB).
