Bearded Calvin "Cave" Carson is a world-renowned explorer of the underground world (first appearance, The Brave and the Bold No. 31, Sep 1960: "The Secret Beneath the Earth"). Often using his personal drilling vehicle, The Mighty Mole, he and his crew journey to lost lands and encounter many weird phenomena and beings.
Carson once aids the Omega Men in their quest to locate Superman when he is imprisoned beneath the earth by the Mole (Act No. 536, Oct 1982: "Battle Beneath the Earth!"), and soon after joins the Forgotten Heroes.
