Ben Drill
A former World War I flying ace, now the owner of a small wrecking business, who unexpectedly acquires Superman as an employee in February-March 1951, firstly because Superman feels that he needs to acquire an occupation in order to fill out his census form accurately, and secondly because he is determined to prevent unscrupulous loan company operator Steve Sokum from carrying out a vicious plot to bankrupt Drill in retaliation for Drill's having thwarted his scheme to sell faulty airplane parts to the Air Corps during World War II.
