A sultry blond singer at the [[Hilow Night Club]] who has murdered a man named [[Jack Kennedy]] “for two-timing her” and framed innocent [[Evelyn Curry]] for the crime. After confronting Bea Carroll in her dressing room and forcing her to sign a written confession (“I—I’ll get the chair for this!” sobs Bea. “You should have thought of that before you took a human life!” replies [[Superman]]), Superman races with his prisoner to the home of the governor to arrange a last minute reprieve for Evelyn Curry (S No. 1/1, Sum 1939). The original, albeit abbreviated, version of this story appears in Action Comics No. 1 (Jun 1938).
