The "far-off island" which serves as Lex Luthor's base of operations during September-October 1941. There, through "experiments with the omega rays," Luthor has succeeded in creating fearsome "gigantic animals" with which he intends "to conquer the world and set up a scientific dictatorship," but the entire island "blows into smithereens" when Luthor destroys it during a climactic battle with Superman (S No. 12/4).
