A beautiful blonde, nicknamed Annie Oakley, because of her mind-boggling feats as a sharpshooter, who is hired by Perry White to be Lois Lane's “regular bodyguard†in May-June 1951 -- after Superman has complained of being “sick and tired of spending all my valuable time rescuing [Lois] from danger!†-- but who resigns the post soon afterwards to accpet the job of sheriff in her Western home town of Redstone Hills (S No. 70/1: “Lois Lane Meets Annie Oakleyâ€).
