Alura

Alura. The wife of the Kryptonian scientist Zor-El and the mother of Supergirl. Since Zor-El and Superman's father, Jor-El, were brothers, Alura—also rendered Allura—is Superman's aunt.

When the planet Krypton exploded into fragments, Alura and Zor-El—who had not yet married—and the other inhabitants of Argo City survived the death of their planet when their entire city was hurled into space intact by the force of the cataclysm. For years the orphaned city drifted through space as life returned to an uneasy normalcy for the Kryptonian survivors. Zor-El and Alura became husband and wife, and in time a blond baby, Kara, was born to the couple.

Not long after Kara had reached her teens, the entire population of Argo City succumbed to deadly kryptonite poisoning, but not before Zor-El had placed his daugher in a space rocket and launched her toward Earth, where she would acquire super-powers and achieve worldwide fame as Supergirl. Alura and Zor-El survived the death of Argo City by escaping into the so-called Survival Zone, an alien dimension from which Supergirl finally freed them in early 1964. The couple now reside in the bottle city of Kandor.
