It is acceptable to cite a non-canonical work in the entry if the non-canonical work conatins the first appearance of an entry subject. --Telle 02:23, 4 August 2006 (EDT)

When this is true, I try to spell out the full title of the comic, since it is not on the ref list, but I'm not sure if that's the way it should be done...--MatterEaterLad 11:04, 4 August 2006 (EDT)

It is since TGSB does it when needed, like for Viki Vale which sites a Batman comic. However, as it stands, it's a token entry, since no info about his canonical appearance is mention. It should be noted that these things should ONLY be used for 1st appearance and origins ONLY. Any adventures not in the canonical books, should be ignored matter for this project. --Super Monkey 12:35, 4 August 2006 (EDT)

Any thoughts about getting these things into the "adding entries" instructions? Some of them are implied but new users might not pick up on them...

As a start...maybe...

1. Do not edit entries or passages in entries that are taken directly from The Great Superman Book (abbreviated TGSB) 2. Write entries and details of stories in the present tense whenever possible, for example "Superman removes the Krytponite and flies away" rather than "Superman removed the Kryptonite and flew away" 3. References to canonical sources are important for entry details 4. Do not make mention of television, movies, newspaper strips or other media outside of the canonical comics (exception: a comic outside the canonical references can be referenced in terms of an entry's origin, but please spell the comic reference out in full) 5. Disagreement in canonical sources can be noted (with references) but please do not "pick" an account as having priority or state an opinion on a story 6. Don't include details on writers, art, meaning of a story as literature, meaning of a comic in historical context, etc. In other words, don't editorialize in an entry 7. When adding an entry of a character with a first and last name, under all category listings, add the following -- |lastname, first name (for example, for Mary Smith, write: [[Category:Entries|Smith, Mary)

Stuff like that...--MatterEaterLad 12:56, 4 August 2006 (EDT)

I like it ... I liiiike it! That last one (7) is a toughie cause I'm lazy and I always have to cut and paste the divider |.--Telle 16:31, 7 August 2006 (EDT)

Yeah, I didn't even know there was a vertical divider on a keyboard until Supermanica... ;>) --MatterEaterLad 20:46, 7 August 2006 (EDT)

There's a vertical divider on a keyboard?!?! --Telle 21:44, 7 August 2006 (EDT)

just hold down Shift and press \ and you will get | --Super Monkey 21:56, 7 August 2006 (EDT)

Yeah, on a Mac notebook, its above the forward slash, so yeah, shift \ --MatterEaterLad 22:05, 7 August 2006 (EDT)

Thanks lads --it appears as 2 vertical dashes on the keyboard I'm using.--Telle 19:08, 9 August 2006 (EDT)

This is a featured article --typos and all? I will have to see if I have that canonical issue mentioned for a full synopsis... --telle 12:37, 5 March 2007 (EST)

I can edit the typos and content for now. I don't know why I can't get the toolbar to work so I'm not sure I can get a signature here. Grrr. --One thing I did notice is that BlueStar changed his origin significantly from the account previously written. I'm not sure which is correct. MatterEaterLad

Sometimes entries get spotlighted so that they can get some much needed attention and improvements!
