Even though I am the forum moderator, it is not my website and I have no say or control over it, that would be The Great Rao aka Macduff. I also do not know what happen and I am completely in the dark here, I just came back home today to find the site gone. So I guess we can use this page to find out and discuss the fate of STTA and this site as well. I would really, really hate to see both sites go as I and many others have put in countless hours building up both sites and have meet many great people and on-line friends there.--Super Monkey 21:57, 11 November 2007 (EST)
Hello and welcome to the Supermanica Community Portal! The superman.ws domain name currently has some major technical glitches which I am attempting to resolve, but STTA may end up moving to a new domain name. I figured this gives us an opportunity to start exploring the full functions of this wiki - like having discussion about the wiki, on the wiki itself! --Macduff 09:58, 17 July 2007 (EDT)

2. I hope the domain doesn't have to switch again. I like the wiki format here, I even like the lack of footnotes stuck way on the bottom and prefer the citations in the text. The major thing that bothers me a bit is mixing of direct copies of TGSB with original material in the same entry. - MatterEaterLad

I think you misunderstood. The Superman.ws domain is down, not this Wiki site or you wouldn't be able to see it and post here right now.--Super Monkey 13:39, 17 July 2007 (EDT)

Nah, I was just mixing two thoughts in one entry. I know that the superman.ws is the domain that's down. ;) Then I went on to talk about the wiki. - MatterEaterLad

This is great but doesn't quite satisfy my jones (neurotic need?) for a meaty STTA-type discussion about things like Shazam, Jack Kirby, and whether or not current DC writers really understand Jimmy Olsen. That being said, and to address MEL's point, I don't see how the mixing, if done with respect and scholarly "professionalism," shouldn't come off as seamless for the general reader. Isn't this part of our mandate, to continue TGSB past 1970 and add new info to the entries (and create new entries where needed)?
--telle 04:26, 18 July 2007 (EDT)

Its not always that seemless to my mind. Sometimes things are repeated on long entries, other times, non TGSB edits are made inside TGSB paragraphs, and the credit for the book is not always consistent. Maybe at some date, TGSB passages can be made a different font. - MatterEaterLad
While all his friends from the present and future are in Metropolis celebrating Superman Day, the date of Superman's arrival on Earth, the Man of Steel lay dying from exposure to a chunk of Green Kryptonite - courtesy of an anniversary present from the warped mind of Bizarro Number One.

As the stricken Man of Tomorrow lay helpless, he combed the festivities with his X-Ray vision to see which one of his friends would save them - prophetically one with the initals L.L as foretold by a gift, "...an advanced kind of computer!" from the Cybern Galaxy.

As his life ebbed away Superman was suddenly saved by a young lad playing baseball who was wearing a uniform. Surprisingly, Superman's rescuer's name, Steven Snapinn, didn't have the initals L.L. Then, Superman saw the lettering on the back of his savior's uniform - that he was, in fact, a Little Leaguer (S No. 157/3, Nov 1962: "Superman's Day of Doom").
The veracity of the chronicles designated as Imaginary Stories is nearly impossible to authenticate.

aka Lara Lor Van

The wife of Jor-El and the mother of Superman. Offered the chance to flee the impending death of Krypton by escaping to Earth with her infant son, she steadfastly refused to abandon her husband, remaining behind with him instead to perish in the cataclysm.

Surprisingly little is known about Superman's mother. "Noted for her advanced intellect as well as her beauty," she worked in a shop that manufactured robots prior to her marriage to Jor-El. During the period immediately preceeding the marriage, she served as Jor-El's assistant at the Kryptonian missle base where Jor-El was engaged in top-level research.

At the time the lovely, dark-haired Lara gave birth to the infant Superman, she and her husband were residing in Kryptonopolis, the city that became the capital of Krypton following the theft of Kandor by the space villain Brainiac.

When, around the time of Superman's birth, Jor-El made the dire discovery that Krypton was on the verge of exploding "like one colossal atomic bomb," Lara was one of the few Kryptonians who believed Jor-El's prophecy of impending cataclysm.

When doomsday finally came, and Jor-El urged her to flee the holocaust with their infant son in an experimental rocket, Lara steadfastly refused to leave her husband's side. "I will not leave you, Jor-El!" she cried. "But we will save our son!"

Hurriedly, "the helpless infant was placed into the space-ship," and the tiny craft was "launched forth into the void."

"Krypton is dying!" cried Jor-El, as the ruins of Krypton crumbled about them.

"But our son will live," answered Lara, " - the last survivor of a great civilization!"

Then, as husband and wife clung together in a desperate last embrace, "nature's fury gathered for one final cataclysmic eruption... And as the pitifully small space-ship hurtled through interstellar space, the once mighty Krypton exploded into stardust!"

Because he remembers his parents as having been so loving and kind - and because the anguish of losing them in childhood was so unbearably painful - Superman has memorialized his parents in numerous ways, the most well-known of these being the memorial in his Fortress of Solitude.

Imaginary Stories

Classic Tales from the Chronicles of Superman which may or may not actually happen.

These are not hoaxes, dreams, parallel worlds or OTHER.

Usually these tales diverge from then current continuity or history of the chronicles featuring familiar characters in different settings or circumstances - variations on the legend along a "what if" timeline posited by the myth makers and tellers of the tales.
